Last night I watched the movie “Freedom Writers” starring Hilary Swank as Erin Gruwell, the teacher in whose true story this film is based on.
It’s a movie (a story) filled with humanity that shows how a single person who refuses to give up on her allegedly “unteachable” students and gives them a second chance to (re)discover themselves and change their own lives. She really makes a difference and wins their respect with her different methods of teaching.
I truly have an admiration for teachers and this movie has touched me, even more because it is an inspirational true story. The lesson I took out of it is that instead of fighting each other over race, color, social status, beliefs, etc. people should join together and rise above the superficial differences to achieve whatever they’re capable of achieving.
